Me, Me, ME!
I'm not going to set myself apart from all those other style bloggers by proclaiming how much I loved fashion from a very early age. It's something most style bloggers have in common. I think what sets me apart is my vision of what it means to be stylish and how I manage to achieve a unique style with minimum spend.
So fair to say that fashion and style have always been part of my life but after a little bout of cancer in 2015 (cancer free and fine now - thanks!) and a struggle with severe anxiety disorder and major depression in 2016, which resulted in a forced leave from my day job (in therapy, on meds, and back at work - thanks!) I found myself needing to find something to occupy my time and focus my energies into something positive which was spending time in the multitude of thrift stores that dot my neighborhood. During the over two months I was off at work, I would spend hours thrifting in between therapy appointments. There is something so soothing about sifting through the racks looking for treasures that was salve for my tortured emotional state. During that time, I scored so many amazing things that my closet rack was in definite danger of collapsing. I needed to come up with a way to continue to thrift and search for vintage finds but keep my closet from exploding. A dear friend, who happens to be an amazing mentor and kick ass woman, suggested that I start selling some of my pieces by doing pop ups at her divine shop Virago Gallery in West Seattle. And so Enriqueta Vintage was born.
Named for my grandmother, my first style icon, Enriqueta Vintage has become my passion project; the motivation that keeps me inspired and engaged.
Enriqueta Vintage continues to evolve and I know will grow with me. I've set up enriquetavintage.com in order to share my vision more widely and to make it easier to connect with like minded fashion obsessives.
I hope readers will enjoy and find inspiration here. I look forward to growing this venture and hearing from all you.
